The Thirteen Canons, Op. 113 are a collection of works for female unaccompanied chorus composed over the course of a number of years (most likely written while employed as director of a Hamburg woman's choir) and finished off and first published in 1891. Brahms alludes to his admired predecessor Schubert in No. 13 with a quote from the song Der Leiermann from Die Winterreise

Ralph Sauer has lovingly arranged these works, totalling about 12 minutes in length for six-part Trombone Ensemble of moderate difficulty, able to be performed by just about any level group with all parts in bass clef and in easy ranges. They can all be performed without the need of a bass trombone or f-attachment.
