A consortium of artists contributed funds towards the creation of this brilliant new work, bringing it to life.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHere is what composer Elizabeth Raum says about her new work for Tenor\/Bass Trombone and Piano.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eThis piece for piano and bass trombone was inspired by the Hubble Telescope as it \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003emoves through space, sending images of \u003cstrong\u003eThe World Beyond\u003c\/strong\u003e back to Earth. My son \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003eworks on the creation of these telescopes that tell us the secrets of the universe by \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003emeans that are beyond my comprehension but have often been an inspiration for my \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003emusic.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe opening introduction of the World Beyond is based on the whole tone scale \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003eimplying the vastness of a universe with no boundaries. The following sixteenth note \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003eostinato, like twinkling stars, continues throughout, connecting the images being \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003etransmitted by the telescope to Earth, each having its own character.
