Philipp Nicolai wrote the Lutheran hymn tune Sleepers wake! during the European plague of 1598. Bach based his chorale cantata Wachet auf BWV 140 on the hymn and it was first performed in 1731.

Jeff Reynolds has lovingly arranged the three-verse Advent chorale for a 5-part trombone choir with alto on top (tenor clef part supplied) and contrabass on the bottom. This gorgeous work is suitable for advanced intermediate on the middle parts and advanced on the outer ones.
