Romeo and Juliet is a ballet by Sergei Prokofiev first composed in 1935, inspired by the Shakespeare play. The Dance of the Knights also known as The Montagues and the Capulets, one of the composer's most iconic works is almost 6 minutes in length and portrays the fateful encounter between the two rival families. The atmosphere of the music is dark and foreboding with extreme dynamics and harsh dissonances.
