Fantasie-Legende for Trombone Solo and Orchestra by early 20th Century Danish composer Axel Jørgensen was forgotten for quite a while but has been rediscovered, edited, and recorded (with piano accompaniment) by noted Danish Trombonist and educator Niels-Ole Bo Johansen.
The work is in a late-Romantic style with hints of impressionism, about 4 minutes in length, and is appropriate for advanced intermediate level performers (range is up to a high B).
The instrumentation is for Full Score, Solo Trombone, 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets, 2 Bassoons, 3 Horns, 2 Trumpets, Timpani, and Strings.
The version with piano accompaniment has been beautifully recorded by the editor, Niels-Ole Bo Johanssen from his CD, The French Connection.
The two samples below are of the version for Trombone and Piano (live) and a digital representation of the orchestral version.
