Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921) was a French organist and professor at the Paris Conservatoire. A prolific composer, he produced many great works, including operas, symphonies, concerti, chamber, and choral works.

Cavatine, Op. 144 was written in 1915 as a musical gift to Boston Symphony trombonist George W. Stewart who helped with the composer's trans-Atlantic voyage to North America as the special guest of the World's Fair in St. Louis.

The 5-minute work has become one of the most popular solos in the trombone repertoire with its beautiful phrases and expressive feel.

This great music has been arranged for two trombonists by Jessica Hawthorne and includes two scores for ease of performance.

The studio recording below has been beautifully performed by Ms. Hawthorne.
