Below are comments by the arranger about Armonia Religiosa composed by Count Domenico Silveri and arranged by Fabrizio Bugani for 10-part Brass Ensemble & Organ.

In 1846, on the occasion of the election of Pope Pius IX (Cardinal Mastai Ferretti from the Marche), Silveri composed his most famous and celebrated work, Armonia religiosa, which was performed in St. Peter's for the first Mass celebrated by the new Pope. It was a triumphal march "in E flat, slow and hieratic and with caressing harmonies [...] solemn and grave". The Hymn was a great success and has since been adopted on the occasion of the most solemn celebrations to be held in St. Peter's.

This arrangement is scored for 4 Trumpets (1 E-flat and 3 B-flat), 2 Horns, 3 Trombones, Tuba and Organ. It is appropriate for moderately advanced performers and is suitable for any serious religious occasion.
