Profile, by David Fetter for unaccompanied bass trombone is a work which was composed for Doug Yeo in 1996 while he was Bass Trombonist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Profile, is serious in nature and conservative in form and harmony and it has three movements: Lyric, Blues March and Comforting.

Lyric is spun from a rising phrase in the slow movement of the Beethoven Symphony No. 5.

Blues Marchwas inspired by a surprise solo improvisation of a blues march by trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, when he was honored at a Peabody Conservatory commencement ceremony.

Comforting, could be a low-key revival meeting.

Douglas Yeo gave the premier performance of Profile in a faculty recital at the New England Conservatory of Music in 1997, and he included Profile on his solo CD, Take I.
