Alborada del gracioso by Maurice Ravel has been arranged by Steve Eckert for 12-part Brass Ensemble, Timpani & Percussion.  This ravishing work was composed in 1905 for piano and orchestrated to be used by Sergei Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes in 1919.

The title roughly translates into The Jester's Aubade and the work has an ABA form to it: a lively rhythmic dance followed by a rhapsodic song featuring a solo for horn, then followed again and concluding with the exciting dance segment.

This gorgeous arrangement of the entire work by Steve Eckert is about 7 minutes in length and suitable for very advanced performers. Instrumentation is for 3 Trumpets in B-flat, 4 Horns, 3 Trombones, Euphonium, Tuba, Timpani, Marimba and various unpitched percussion (4-5 players are neccessary).
