DavisMicha

Micha Davis was born in 1958 in kibbutz Nir Hen to a music-loving family. Later, when the family moved to Ashkelon, he was encouraged and coached by another former kibbutz member, youth bands conductor Eliyahu Greenzweig. After a year of trumpet studies, he switched to the trombone. His trombone teachers were Ray Parnes, former Israel Philharmonic Principal Trombonist, and Yehoshua Pasternak, his former Israel Philharmonic colleague. Following his military service in the IDF Band under Izhak Graziani, he joined the Haifa Symphony. In 1983 he joined the Israel Philharmonic and at the same continued his studies in Chicago with some of the finest brass players, members of the Chicago Symphony. He regularly takes part in KeyNote (the Israel Philharmonic educational program) activities as arranger, presenter and performer. His wife, Shelly, is a clarinetist with the Israel Philharmonic, and their four children were raised to love music and all play brass instruments.
