I'm a Bass Trombonist currently living in the Houston area, but I was born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX. I teach music theory courses at the University of Houston and aspiring low brass musicians of all ages. I'm an Adjunct Professor of Music at Lone Star College-North Harris, and the current bass trombonist with the Mid-Texas and Clear Lake Symphony Orchestras.

I received my Bachelor's Degree from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi, my Master's Degree from the University of Houston, and I'm currently working on my Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at the University of Houston. I lead a fairly varied musical life as both a performer and a theorist. My primary teachers have been Ilan Morgenstern, Donny Pinson, Dan Sipes, and Phil Cole on the trombone, and Arlene Long and Robert Brown on Piano.

As a performer I have played with the Mid-Texas Symphony, the New World Symphony, the San Antonio Symphony, the Clear Lake Symphony, and the Texas Medical Center Orchestra. I was the winner of the 2017 Moores School Concerto Competition, A finalist for the New World Symphony, Runner-up for the 2016 UH NMO concerto competition, and a Finalist in the 2017 Bach Bass Trombone competition at Texas Tech. I've also been fortunate to play in all sorts of musicals like Les Miserables, Sweeney Todd, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Cabaret, Chicago, Curtains, and Legally Blonde, to name a few. In the Jazz world, I've performed in some small combos in Corpus Christi and Austin. Oh, and I spent several years playing in a Ska band, so there's that.

As a music theorist, I spend a lot of time researching both popular, classical, and video game music. One of my biggest passions is finding deeper meaning in  music through the many lenses of various analytical methods. I've presented conferences in the US and Canada on a variety of topics. I'll expand more on this in the "Music Theory" section.

So that's me. Outside of music, I enjoy learning foreign languages, reading sci-fi novels, and cooking. If you want to know anything else about me, or want to talk about any of my interests, shoot me an email!
