Knowles
Kenneth Knowles was born in Toronto and obtained his Bachelor of Music Degree in Trombone Performance at the University of Toronto having studied with Ralph Sauer. He then went on to the Eastman School of Music, studying with Emory Remington for his Masters Degree. He retired in 2004 after twenty years as a professor of music at Memorial University’s School of Music. His performance background as a trombonist ranges from jazz appearances with Ella Fitzgerald to symphonic concerts with the Toronto Symphony and National Arts Centre Orchestras. At Memorial University his main teaching areas were the low brass instruments, orchestration, arranging and chamber music. His arrangements for brass have been performed in concert and on radio throughout Canada and the US.
