Augustine

Daniel S. Augustine has a Ph.D. in music theory and is a part-time professional tuba player in Austin, Texas. He has published many arrangements for tuba, tuba quartet/ensemble, brass quintet/ensemble, brass band, and pep/polka band. Now retired, he has played professionally in the Reno and Austin areas, including the Reno symphony orchestra, the Reno Municipal Band, and casino bands backing Peggy Lee and David Clayton-Thomas.

His "Tuba Duets and Trios" (Keiser Southern Music) has sold thousands of copies. In Austin, Texas, he wrote the horn-arrangement and played on Robert Earl Keen's first album "No Kinda Dancer". He has also played in Austin concert bands, a British-style brass band (for which he wrote over 100 arrangements), a number of dixieland bands, polka bands, and even a Balkan brass band. All of these experiences gave him sound bases for his arrangements and transcriptions.
