Ausman-Sample

Sonny Ausman has played trombone in the Los Angeles Philharmonic for 40 years. He began playing the trombone at age 8 in Bessemer, Alabama. Mr. Ausman graduated from the Eastman School of Music where he studied with Emory Remington. He is also a recording engineer having recorded many musicians from major symphony orchestras.

Steve O. Sample, Professor Emeritus, University of Alabama School of Music, served nationally at Jazz festivals and competitions as judge, clinician and director; taught and directed at Stan Kenton Summer Jazz Band Camps; and served two terms as Alabama State President of NAJE. He has worked with Bob Hope, Dave Brubeck, Jim Nabors, Vic Damone and Joan Rivers plus Jazz greats Maynard Ferguson, Dizzy Gillespie, Dee Barton, Bill Watrous, Urbie Green, Al Vizutti, Gene Bertoncini and Rich Matteson. His arrangements are performed throughout the nation by professional and school jazz bands, High School and University marching bands, symphony orchestras, LA Philharmonic Trombone section, tuba/euphonium ensembles, choral groups and the Los Angeles Resonance Flute Consort.
