Brubeck

Dr. David William Brubeck serves as Professor of Music at Miami Dade College, Kendall where he serves as Chamber Music Coordinator and teaches trombone as well as courses in Music Theory and Jazz. Brubeck performs regularly with the Miami City Ballet Orchestra, Brass Miami, DUO BRUBECK, the Brubeck-Neal Duo and as a soloist. Brubeck's occasional performances have included the likes of Stevie Wonder, The Bolshoi Ballet, Ray Charles, the American Ballet Theatre and as a solo artist for the International Trombone Festival. Brubeck's compositions, entitled Stereograms, have been performed and recorded throughout the globe and three were performed by Boston Symphony bass trombonist James Markey at the most recent International Trombone Festival. These self-accompanied rhythmic etudes inspired by of the Cello Suites of Bach and the unaccompanied works of Bobby McFerrin have been transcribed for saxophone, tuba, and horn. Brubeck accepted musical scholarships and teaching and conducting positions at the University of Miami (DMA) and Northwestern University (MM & BM). Selected an unprecedented three times as a Collegiate All-American Musician, Brubeck played trombone in and directed the All American College Band at Walt Disney World. He has published numerous compositions and arrangements, scholarly articles, a basic theory text, and a method for trombone. Brubeck is proprietor of davidbrubeck.com and has joined Trombone Shorty and Elliot Mason as a sponsored performing artist for custom horn craftsmen BACmusic.com Brubeck has conducted the Florida Youth Orchestra's Symphony Orchestra for the past 15 years and was recently appointed Chief Educational Officer for TROMBA-The Ultimate Plastic Trombone.
