Darling

Steven Darling is currently a DMA Candidate in Tuba and Euphonium at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Previously, Steven was the Adjunct Professor of Euphonium at Murray State University from 2015-2016 and a sabbatical substitute of Tuba and Euphonium at Ohio University in 2013.

As a composer Steven’s original works have been premiered and performed throughout the country including at the 2014 ITEC, 2015 SERTEC, 2015 MWRTEC, Ohio University, the College-Conservatory of Music, The University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, and at the 2016 ITEC. In 2015 Mr. Darling’s work Til Human Voices Wake Us for Pierrot Ensemble was selected as a finalist in the Seattle Chamber Symphony Composition Competition.

As a soloist on tuba and euphonium Steve has performed throughout the United States, having been a featured artist at the 2014 Midwest Trombone-Euphonium Conference, 2015 SERTEC, 2016 Kentucky Music Educators Association Conference, and the 2016 ITEC. Steven has earned national and international accolades for his artistry having placed in and won several competitions including the 2014 ITEC Euphonium Artist Competition, 2015 SERTEC Euphonium Artist Competition, 2015 NERTEC Euphonium Artist Competition, MTNA 2016 Ohio Brass Competition, the 2015 Ohio University Concerto Competition, the 2016 CCM Brass Choir Concerto Competition, and was a semi-finalist in the 2016 ITEC Chamber Competition.

Steven’s original compositions, arrangements, editions, and articles have received publication and recently a series of videos entitled Kaleidoscope were published on the ITEAONLINE.org website. Steven is currently the Video Librarian for the ITEAONLINE pedagogy video library and a reviewer of new works for the ITEA Journal.
