Diefenderfer

Ryan Diefenderfer is currently a student at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. While at Indiana University, Ryan has studied trombone with Peter Ellefson, as well as music composition with Claude Baker and Aaron Travers.   In addition, Ryan is studying music education. Ryan’s most notable recent musical achievements include: winning the 2012 Eastern Trombone Workshop National Composition Competition, being selected as a finalist for the 2012 Tyler Youth Symphony Orchestra New Music Project, receiving Honorable Mention’for the 2012 NAME Student Composition Contest, and receiving second prize in the 2010 S.E. Shires Trombone Solo Competition. Ryan’s music has been performed and recorded by groups such as: members of the United States Army Ceremonial Band, Indiana University Professor of Trombone Carl Lenthe and the Indiana University Trombone Choir, Brent Wallarab’s IU Big Band, as well as a number of musicians at the Jacobs School of Music. Outside of music, Ryan enjoys traveling, movies, and sports.
