Hallberg

Bengt Wilhelm Hallberg (1824-1883) was an organist and music teacher in Landskrona, Sweden. He studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Hallberg was a gifted musician who left a distinct mark on his immediate surroundings, both as an organist and as an educator. Shortly before his death, he completed a proposal for a Scandinavian choral book, which unfortunately was never realized.

Hallberg's Arioso is one of the first works that Anton Hansen ever performed as a soloist, when he was just 19 years old, at the Church of Capernaum on February 17th, 1896. The organist was probably the church organist Hermann Johannes Ostermann. The material is from Anton Hansen's sheet music collection in the Royal Library.
