Kim

Takahiro Kim was born in Sendai, Japan and began playing the tuba at elementary school. After playing only one year, he joined the Sendai Jr. Orchestra. After graduating from high school in Japan, he came to Chicago to  study at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University in the U.S.A.. He was the principal tuba of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago for the 2010-2012 seasons. Takahiro has won many solo competitions, including the 22nd Leos Janacek International Competition, the 33rd Wind & Percussion Competition, the 7th Jeju International Brass & Percussion Competition, and the 2nd Annual Chicago Brass Festival Solo Competition. He played as a soloist with Jeju Philharmonic Orchestra, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, and Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra. He studied tuba with Tetsuya Ohtsuka and Charles Schuchat.

As a composer, Takahiro started composition since 2019. He composes many works for Tuba & Euphonium.
