A native of Stratford, Prince Edward Island, Matthew completed his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of PEI where he studied with Dr. Gregory Irvine and Mark Parsons. He earned an Advanced Certificate in Performance from the University of Toronto under the tutelage of Bart Woomert and then completed a Masters of Music at the University of New Mexico, studying with Jeff Piper and Dr. John Marchiando.
Matthew has performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Nova Scotia, Victoria Symphony Orchestra, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de la francophonie canadienne, and with the PEI Symphony Orchestra. He enjoys playing in brass quintets and has had the privilege of playing with the New Mexico Brass Quintet and the Pinnacle Brass Quintet.
Matthew worked with the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy in Victoria, BC from 2009-2015 where he worked as one of the band's arrangers. In August, 2015 he was relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba where he became a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force Band.
