Kevin Thompson was born and raised in Canada, he has spent most of his professional life overseas, living and working in Malaysia, South Africa, the UK, Norway, and the US. He was trained at the University of Victoria and the University of Toronto, and did post-graduate work in England, with Denis Wick (former Principal Trombone of the London Symphony). He has performed with the Bergen Philharmonic, the Royal Philharmonic (London), the BBC Philharmonic, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Vancouver and Victoria Symphonies, the Calgary Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony, the Malaysian Philharmonic, the Macao Symphony, and the Singapore Symphony. With these orchestras he has toured the US, Asia, Australia, and Europe, and played in some of the great concert halls of the world. In addition to his work as a trombonist, Kevin has always remained dedicated to promoting the euphonium as a solo instrument. He has recorded two critically acclaimed solo euphonium recordings and has shared the beauty of this wonderful instrument with people around the world at recitals and master classes.
