Duke Ellington is regarded as one of the most important figures in Jazz history. He composed incessantly, led his own band for decades, and was an extraordinary Pianist. Ellington elevated Jazz to be perceived as an art form on the level of the other great musical genres. This song, Don’t Get Around Anymore, was written and first recorded in 1940, but under a different name. The new lyrics and title were added in 1942, making it fly to the top of the charts when both Ellington's band and "Ink Spots" recordings hit the shelves. Keith Terrett has written a delightful arrangement for Brass Quintet of about five minutes in length for moderately advanced performers.
