Lincolnshire Posy by Percy Grainger is a work originally written for concert band. Selections from the original six movements have been beautifully arranged for brass quintet by Daniel Ogren. He has chosen three movements from this gorgeous work based on folk songs that Grainger adapted while on a 1905 trip to Lincolnshire, England.

  1. Dublin Bay is a jaunty lilting melody about a young sailer. 2. Horkstow Grange, a nearby village has a slow, beautifully flowing melody. 3. The Lost Lady Found is based on a ballad of a lady who is kidnapped and found by her lover.

Grainger wrote: Each number is intended to be a kind of musical portrait of the singer who sang its underlying melody. The selection of three movements is poetic, lyrical and dramatic, about 5-minutes in length and suitable for advanced performers. The instrumentation is for 2 Trumpets in B-flat (1 Piccolo trumpet), Horn, Trombone and Tuba).
