Dr Wade Goodwin has released a great new book of studies for Trombone. Flex & Flow - Modern Studies in Flexibility and Airflow for Trombone. Here is what he says in the beginning of his detailed Foreword:
In this book I included everything I could think of that deals with long tones and flexibility, and that includes multiphonics. I also have a section on a couple forms of ornamentation, and a section on trills. In the Advanced Flexibility section, I sprinkled in a couple exercises that deal with slide technique instead of slurs. I think that great slide technique, especially between the positions 5 through 7, is super important to mastering the correct trombone sound. I also put in a couple exercises that are designed for bass trombone. If you’re playing these exercises on tenor trombone, just try your best, and play the notes you can play and omit the ones you don’t have access to.
There are hundreds of studies for the advanced performer in the 55 pages of the book and they will really challenge your lip and your brain. When you master these studies you will be a new player.
