Symphony No. 2 in G minor by Wilhelm Stenhammar was composed between 1910 and 1915. It was a personal struggle for him, and it is now considered one of the great Nordic symphonies of the era.

The Finale from Symphony No. 2 for Brass Ensemble, Timpani & Organ features a grandiose double fugue, displaying Stenhammar's preoccupation with counterpoint as a way of overcoming his doubts about his compositional knowledge.

Ross Holcombe has done an amazing job arranging this mammoth movement for large Brass Ensemble, Timpani, and Organ. The instrumentation is for: 4 Horns in F, 5 Trumpets in C, 3 Trombones, Bass Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Timpani & Organ.

The 16 1/2 minute work is appropriate for advanced performers.
