He is a leading professional Trombonist in North America, having performed as Principal Trombonist of the Vancouver Symphony, and the CBC Radio Orchestra. As well, Gordon has taught hundreds of Brass students for over 30 years at the University of British Columbia and many international leading music festivals.

Here is what composer David F. Wilborn has to say about his new work for Trombone Quartet.

GADGET by David Wilborn is a commissioned work by Jonathan Hooper and the members of The Green Hills Bonetet (Charles Jenkins, Mark Staggs, and Eric Wenker) of Nashville, Tennessee. The work was created to be a lighthearted, entertaining, fun manuscript. The character of the music is like the amusing and entertaining pleasure one gets in utilizing gadget devices. Such devices are sometimes desired to serve or enrich our day-to-day lives. We allow gadgets to enhance our lives and in turn, they give us pleasure.

When exploring their full potential, we often love our gadgets and we want to share them with others. The composition entitled Gadget serves to amuse and entertain as the namesake device. The lively fast tempos, spirited melodies and pseudo pop sounding passages all come together to create a musical device that is meant to deliver pleasure and delight to the audience. To that end, the music becomes a gadget.

The work is about 6 minutes in length and is suitable for moderately advanced performers and all in bass clef.
