Gordon Cherry has been running Cherry Classics for over 20 years. He is a leading professional Trombonist in North America, having performed as Principal Trombonist of the Vancouver Symphony, and the CBC Radio Orchestra. As well, Gordon has taught hundreds of Brass students for over 30 years at the University of British Columbia and many international leading music festivals.

Grieg’s incidental music to Henrik Ibsen’s play became his most popular composition, with both great works premiering in 1876. Aase’s Death is an elegy depicting the death of Peer Gynt’s mother dying alone on a mountain. It is simple and powerful.

Ed Hayes and Frank Harmantas have scored this work for 5-part Trombone Ensemble. This 4-minute work is playable by moderately advanced performers except the top part which goes up to a couple high d’s and needs some endurance.
